Few things are more relaxing than a few days away on or near a lake hoping to catch the king of all bass. But while you may think this is the ideal getaway, the family might not agree. For the nature lover, the town of Kingston offers beautiful scenes for campers, hikers or photographers. And the twin towns of Winston and Chloride offer a historical view of an old mining town with museums and other attractions. All these towns are less than 50 miles from Elephant Butte and can be reached with little difficulty.

The Elephant Butte State Park also offers some excellent courses in boat safety and other educational programs that are fun for old and young!

With all the attractions and events that take place around Elephant Butte, there should be more than enough for everyone to do. Some might say that there is too much to do.
